Branding and Creative Design

Having an eye for good , creative art is a quality that will help most Social Media Managers become great Social Media Managers.

I know you have heard it before, but first impressions influence the relationship heavily and you may not get a second chance. They are a good chunk of the branding experience for your company. So when you are experimenting with your layout, be sure to take into consideration the colors, design and different types of fonts that may be available.

Creating art is a production process in many cases and it is important that your Social Media Manager is aware of this and can work with it. If the production organization is lacking , then the output may not have as much quality as we would like.

Remember that good branding starts with people. We, as humans need reasons to buy or use, and as humans we need to feel part of something bigger. Because our brands need strong targeted principles at the beginning of everything they do and today’s consumer is more sophisticated, consumers play a very active role on the course of these brands.

In retrospect , we see that design isn’t the only thing that makes a good brand, but it does play an important role. Design is one more element that combined with people, understanding  and data will make more engaged experience. Engagement will make your logo more satisfying to the prospect.

Most people find pleasure when recognizing a logo and when the product is delivered properly, makes for satisfaction to both the brand and the consumer. The visual language should continue the conversation in a consistent manner.

Sometimes marketers think of consumers as robotic types of buyers. However, studies show that It is easier to remember a brand when the brand remembers you back. When the engagement becomes a two way street there is also a lot more room for growth of the brand and the consumer.

Branding is a consideration I talk with all of my clients about and I would be happy to discuss at length if you would like to.

Have a great day!

Search Engine Optimization is Important

SEO is one of those things that you do so the search engines can find your content.  As you have heard before, content is king, so be sure to have good, well-written, and unique content that will focus on your primary keyword or keyword phrase.

Since SEO is a critical factor in most types of content management for public consumption, it helps a lot to have a firm grasp of SEO principles and skills. Having a back ground in HTML will go a long way, for instance.

HTML is Hyper Text Markup Language. It is just like learning a foreign language in that you have you have to immerse yourself into it and and have an HTML  writing strategy. As you do more HTML activity, it will become more understandable and fluent. Doing this will give you more insight into how the search engines operate when crawling your site looking for keywords.

Having a good keyword strategy helps in that you will want to look at search volumes for that keyword and competitor use of the keyword. This will help you to increase your ranking.  Some web builders will supply a list of keywords to help you out here.

On page SEO talks about optimization of your own website and the elements that need it so the search engines can index you. You should have page titles and body text , meta descriptions, alt tags on images and your title tags. These are all elements that need to be taken care of.

Inbound links and anchor text are referred to as off-page SEO. You could use the words “social Media ” as an anchor text link. You would then be able to make a guest post on another blog and include a link back to your site by adding a little HTML code into the site.

There is a lot more information on HTML out there and you might try to read a tutorial or two for your own education.

Till next time, see ya!

Online Community Management

Online Community Management is being out in the trenches with the customer. Really, it is the day to day conversations with the enterprises prospects and customers.

This activity has also been referred to as a social media manager.

This activity is social platform agnostic because it doesn’t matter what platform you are on. If you are doing this for a 3rd party, it means they are trusting you with a lot of influence for their enterprise.

Strangely enough, the beginnings of the Online Community Manager start back in the computer games industry with the advent of MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-playing Games) back in 1995.

The realities of the situation have expanded  to include  lots of different positions . Some of these include social media management in a support and marketing role also. The gist of all of this is that online community management encompasses a little bit of each of these, while making sure that there are open communications between the community and the author.

The different types of roles that an online community manager  may serve depends pretty much on the nature and reason for being of the online communities purpose. Now this may or may not be motivated by whether it is a for profit enterprise or not.

Some developers and creators have said that every network has an underlying purpose or there would be no reason to have it.

There are different motivations though , such as Business or Missions or even personal.

These all have to be taken into account when deciding on an Online Community Manager.

The manager has his hand on the pulse of the company and the send button could be compared to the barrel of a weapon. This is because anything coming out of that barrel can hit the target or miss. If there is careful consideration of variables such as wind, humidity etc. , you have a good chance of hitting the target.

If the projectile misses it’s mark, it could bounce of at an angle that could do damage. The company , if there is one, should implement a strategy of approval for this process to minimize damage and maximize influence.

As always , we are soliciting feedback on this subject , so don’t be afraid to contact us.

Have a Happy Holiday Season. !

A Strategy For Marketing On Twitter

Let’s say you sell Digital Widgets on your website. You probably talk about your products’ benefits and features already, using a link back to the site. You are aware that there are a lot of different products out there that you don’t sell, but would be a complimentary product for your customers.  You can use these products to provide them with information and great deals, if you work it right.

This marketing strategy works like this. You can create a new board on Pinterest with a whole range of complimentary products that your customers may be interested in owning. Of course you advertise the link on Twitter also.  You can check out my Pinterest page at http://pinterest.com/webwarrior

According to reports, Pinterest is now driving a lot of revenue toward the company using code they add to the posts and a company called skimlinks.

This works because the other products you are promoting will take notice and possibly start to promote their products this way also. There is a good chance this will result in even more traffic to the site.

Connect all of your Social media platforms around this strategy for the most impact and influence.  For instance, you can talk about how well your strategy works on your Google plus feed. You may even have contacts on some of the other social networks that could benefit from your page. Remember to always link back.

This is a strategy that you might want to pursue if you are looking to generate more revenue.

How Many Times Should You Tweet In A Week?

There is a large market for free Twitter followers, as you can imagine. Just to check and see what this term gets, I typed free  Twitter followers into my favorite search engines. There were only 739 million returns.  That sounds like big business to me. Am I wrong?

Social Networking Sites, like Twitter , seem to be supporting quite a bit of business. You can get 15,000 followers in 24 hours for $39.00.

Of course, they are not real. Some studies show that you will get more real followers that will stay with you if you do the Tweets. Now I happen to think that Tweeting without using automation is more influencing. The Tweets seem more real? Who knows.

In Social Media land there are over 500 million Tweets per day. That’s 100 million Tweeters, Tweeting 5 times per day. Are you tweeting that much?

The Social Media Influence cost may be high, if you’re not.

Now , if you are a blogger , you should tweet your blog link to a social networking site at least twice a day. More may be better. Also, be sure to track your results and maybe even compare with other social media sites.

One of my rules of thumb is to promote other social media content on Twitter by Retweeting. This will also help to get you followers from other Social Networking sites. If you share generously , it will help you to get other followers also.

Some sites say that you should Tweet three times a day and some say 4 times. that’s every eight hours. Now that is going to be hard to do unless you can do it from your phone.

One of the social media jobs that Twitter does best is to drive traffic. It’s not fast and can take a couple of years, but it works. So the answer to the question is to tweet as many times as you can and feel like.

Of course, comments are welcome.

Creating a Website From the Ground Up

When the subject of creating a website from the ground up comes up, most businesses that I talk to know that they have to get online because they have competition that is. They also know that using social media to stay in touch with their audience is necessary also. Web Development Companies that can do both are in demand because of this.

Usually, there are lots of questions about how to do this. The questions center around cost and where to start. Luckily, this question has been solved by http://marketmylocalbusiness.com

You can have a website and be online in a few hours for only forty-nine dollars a month.

There are four major tasks to do before this happens though.

Try to pick a domain name with your company name in it. This is for Search Engine Optimization. The search engines will give you a better ranking if you do.

You will need to find a web hosting service to park your website on. This service should have a low down time so your site will be up 24/7.

Look at other websites that reflect your industry and find a design that you like. This indicates a design that is successful, especially if ecommerce website design is going to be important.

Check out your developer to see what other things he has done in the line of best web development. Remember that a lot of artwork also costs more money.

These are four steps that you can take to get a handle on your website.

Best Mobile Websites

Now that mobile shopping has taken off in the great numbers it has , I am hearing more and more ,

the question of, Who needs a mobile website? Where do I find the best mobile websites on line?

Now , the short answer to the first question is that everyone needs a mobile website.

The answer to the second is that you need to talk to me about how to find the best mobile website.

Let’s talk about the former first. If you have a company website, you need to have a mobile website.

This is because more and more prospects are using mobile devices to find products and services online that they can use.

This allows them to read reviews and make purchases on the go.

In a very short time it has become a a large part part of marketing to the consumer and

most businesses should capitalize on it. If your business is not doing this, your competitors

are contacting those willing customers who are probably more ready to make a purchase or

visit a location than those searching on the regular Web.

The facts are that most of the search engines are in agreement that making your mobile site presentable

now is the way to do business in the 21st century. Don’t worry about whether the visitors will buy from it.

How good your site looks will determine what people think about your business.

One study said that over 50 percent of customers would not recommend a company

that didn’t have a mobile site. The study also said that greater than 39 percent went to

a competitors site after having a bad mobile experience. Very soon your mobile site will be

more important than your regular site.

Keeping this in mind , mobile traffic is on a long-term upward trend. It has been estimated that by 2013,

mobile traffic will surpass “normal” traffic online. Most companies have websites that are horrible looking on line.

if you have a flash website , you wont even be seen on a mobile device.

This is because the mobile platform has different needs to make it work. Even if you have a WordPress site ,

which is highly optimized for mobile, the specific needs of the mobile user will show that you are losing a lot of money by not having one.

For instance , locksmiths with a mobile website will be seen by a customer who has just locked himself

out of his car and is frantically looking for a way back in. The client will not see a regular website on

a smart phone or a site with flash on his mobile device.

The same can be said for a client who has a car that quit in the middle of nowhere.

They will be able to search for a tow service to come and get them. If your tow service cant

be found on a mobile phone, he will go to your competitor.

The primary difference you’ll see with mobile website design examples is that the content is organized

much better and is made for fingers easily finding navigation buttons. There will be no need for your

user to zoom in or out. They will not need to find navigation or squint to see what they need to do.

It’s all right there where they need it, when they need it.

Mobile website design offers the user an optimum experience, which keeps the visitor

on your site and converts into a customer and repeat sales.

Here are a couple of sites that are mobile website friendly that will give you an example

of what we are talking about.

Important Domain Name Registration Changes

Now that ICANN, the domain name registration group, is expanding the domain

name suffix list, I thought it might be helpful to go over the Natural History of the Domain Name.

From the records I have seen, the early history was a bit chaotic.

That’s was part of the impetus to organize a bit better, I’m sure.

The first domains were to be considered general purpose domains and were defined in late 1984.

(There seems to be a little symbolism working here.)

These domains are the ones you are probably familiar with. com, edu, mil, org and gov.

In the beginning they had a specialized use and now they are really pretty much open for everything.

In early 1985 the list was put into use with the addition of .net. So now there were six domain name suffixes

Another addition ,in late 1988, .int , was produced at the behest of NASA. they wanted a name

that would reflect their character because they were a global organization and that they wanted it to be used for some infrastructure changes.

It seems that in Mid 2000 the IAB wanted to close the .int domain in favor of .arpa domains .

They said the future of databases would be in .arpa.

This means that by the mid 1990’s there was pressure for more domain names to be introduced.

The head of the IANA actually did invite applications or proposals from interested parties.

These were under the guidelines that were made in early 1995.

In late 200, ICANN, the domains registry, added 7 more suffixes and has now added 6 more domains names you can buy.

The newest ones are :,jobs, .mobi, .cat, .post , .tel and .travel .

So now ICANN handles domain registration for more domains than ever before.

This will organize things a little more in MHOP . What do you think?

Marketing Strategy Tips

Unless you are an inventor and you have a patent on an exclusive product,

the chances are you will have competition and need marketing strategy tips.

Other businesses are trying to take your customers, and they are active.

You may know it or not, but its time to keep abreast of what your competition is doing.

The way to take care of this problem is to research your competition.

For instance, if you have an online buiseness, you will want to learn some internet

marketing strategies . The reason being its hard to be the market leader if you don’t know who your competition is.

Study some marketing strategy examples for things like who is ranking for what keywords

in your niche and what are they selling. When you’ve answered this question, you will want to

know who they are too. I happen to think it’s more efficient if you stay in your own niche here.

You will want to track their advertising and other content and find

out where they blog about their product. Look at all the major

search engines and social media networks for their products.

If you are having a lot of contact with your current customers,

you can ask them what they think of your competitors products.

This could be the cheapest and easiest ways to get information

on your competitors, according to some sources.

When ever you get a new customer , it’s helpful to find out where they were

getting the product before and why they switched to you. This may

give you some insight into how to look for more business.

For instance, you can get enough data to find out why your customer became

dissatisfied enough to come to you. This might allow you to

adjust your own offering to beat out your competitor.

So that is the way to get started in this area, if you are looking.
